Wallpaper with a register. What is it?

Today there are many wallpaper printing technologies. The most expensive of these is embossing in the register. Wallpaper with register embossing looks richer and more detailed, which is why customers like it so much, even if they know nothing about this technology. Representatives of the wallpaper industry call such cloths briefly – “wallpaper with registers. But not everyone understands what this is. Let’s get to the bottom of it.

This method of printing is used on hot stamping wallpaper, where the basis is a fleece, and the top coating – vinyl. During production, embossing is carried out, that is, the creation of an embossed image. Such a process can be performed without register and in register.

Wallpaper embossing without a register is a small embossing on the vinyl in the form of, for example, shallow squiggles throughout the canvas. That is, regardless of the image, the entire surface of the wallpaper will be in the same embossed cell. This type of embossing does not allow for accurate imitation and is used for inexpensive wallpaper.

Wallpaper embossing in the register on the contrary allows to achieve a spectacular design in the form of deeply expressive details on the canvas. They can imitate stone masonry, plaster, different floral patterns. The difference between this method and embossing without register is that the metal roll, which creates a convex relief, is created specifically for this particular collection and is used once. Therefore, the cost of wallpaper with register is higher. Simply put, the relief matches the pattern on the wallpaper. For example, if a flower is drawn, then this very flower is embossed. Can you imagine the precision that has to be maintained when creating the valances.
